The claims of the Catalan Association of Professional Youth Policy have been successful and has taken a first big step towards the adoption of Law Catalan Youth Policy
With the adoption of the draft Youth Policy Act on 9 March by the Governing Council the Generalitat of Catalonia, the only exclusive jurisdiction pending development since the return of the Government, we are about to witness an important event that has always claimed AcPpJ since its first foundation to the present text.
In recent days, the Minister of Social Action and Citizenship, Carme Capdevila, together with the Registrar Youth, Eugeni Villalbí, presented the Draft Law on Youth Policy in Catalonia.
The law provides for an increase in resources for professionals in youth policies and provide that public authorities should make specific policy for young people. Also, give legal status to the National Youth Plan, the framework of Government policies for youth, world and local youth organizations.
One of the outstanding commitments of the Act is the creation of the National Network of Youth Empowerment, the government deployed until 2015. Be composed of 64 Youth Offices grouped in a single window, all services provided by various authorities to facilitate youth empowerment and gain efficiency. The Youth Office will offer a catalog of specialized services: Youth Housing Stock, Youth Work Office, Point of Youth Information and advice on health, by professionals.
have already launched 10 pilot Youth Offices (Alt Urgell, Conca de Barberà Garraf Garrigues, Girona, Montsià, Noguera, Priorat, Selva and Vallès Oriental) and the next 5 years is forecast to create 54 more. Offices will be implemented in all regional capitals, in towns of more than 50,000 inhabitants and in those towns with over 20,000 inhabitants with social circumstances to recommend a work for young people.
